Totally Antic
You may know I’m not really into joke tees and slogan tees, notwithstanding this I do like a lot of the goofy stuff they offload at Antix. Not that they only produce slogan or joke shirts; Antix have a lot of dead serious graphical illustrated tees too, but the also have a sense of humor. The shirts are hand screen printed and sell for a reasonable penny, and be sure to have a look at their childhood hero stock.
New Shirts at Camiseteria
The Rio based Threadless of the latin world Camiseteria have a lot of really nice fresh tee designs up for sale. Their designs contest pays R$ 500 and some, should you win, however much that might be. A tee is R$50 so I the prize is about 10 tees in any case. If anyone is able to translate, please leave some more info as a comment below.
Four out of a Hundred
There are now four tees for sale over at 08 Place in Whitechapel. The whole thing started with design submissions, vis an exhibition then through a poll and at last onto some cotton. The exhibition featured 100 tees and these are the four selected for sale. They are really nice, too. Read more at: Art in Liverpool, and see images of the exhibition here.
To Hide Ones Arms
…No I’m not talking about that 45 you have in your trunks just waiting to go off and strip you of your manhood. Jeeez. I am of course talking of the fresh new site of sleeved clothing called Hide Your Arms, where I have been spilling the beans about my favorite sweater. But seriously, head over there and take a look. If you only wear tees you’re bound to get the flu at some point, so dress up.
Fjord of America
As a resident of Norway the name of this outfit is sorta familiar. Based in Brooklyn NYC the oddly named t-shirt design company Fjord have made a large collection of really nice designs. I especially love the Party People design, but there are lots and lots of other good stuff there too. You may purchase these fine items via the internet at Elsewares and Stars + Infinite Darkness or selected retailers, both girls and boys.
Join This Commune
New kids on the block, Commune, have some very nice designs out on their site. These New Zealanders handprint their designs ont their very own 100’s, which are custom designed in collaboration with New Zealand fashion designer Beth Ellery. Founder of the Commune and Spiritual Leader Mr. Bennett tells me that they are also about to release new designs very soon. All tees are $25 American.
Secret Laundry Game
These shirts are more than cotton human covers. Edocs Dirty Laundry has secret messages woven into the material. These messages make sense when you log onto their website and enter the codes, and it all comes together. More about the game at We-Make-Money-Not-Art, and the tees are available at Edoc.
The shrits, by the way are nice graphic prints. A good collection for both genders in a vide variety of colours and shapes. Tops, tanks, polos and some good lookin’ accessories. Release date is set to March 1st. No price listed.
Jesus is Big
This is a little preview of what to expect from the next batch of grace from Team Manilla. A great circular raster image print of El Salvador, Cristo or Christ.
Mr. Alviar of Team Manilla tells me that The Phillippines has the largest population of Roman Catholics in the whole of Asia, so I am sure this radient (sorry about that one) Jesus print will catch on. I know I want one.
Nossa
It is like a blend of NY and Brazil. NYC based t-shirt design outfit Nossa prodeces sweet hard graphic clothing with an appropriate soundtrack. Retailed by a number of venues like Turntable Lab, Produkt and Karmaloop, Nossa even have their own online outlet.
Besides from making tees and plying Baile Funk, these guys also seem to though a mean party. Just check out the images in the gallery section of their site.
